The purpose of this site is to lay out and fill in the framework within which the human dialogue and struggle about right and wrong takes place. We seek to step into the ocean of changing perspectives and answers and then to step back out of that ocean to describe what is going on and how it takes place. If this site pursues a grand theory, it is one that eschews grand theories of unconditional principles or ultimate authorities. We live in a coming and going of moral content, of values, of virtues, of principles, of norms, rules, laws, and codes. Like Heraclitus, neither we nor our ancestors nor our progeny can step into the same river of morality twice. This site seeks to capture the grand sweep of morality and its role in the human experiment. You’re invited to participate, to kibitz, to contribute, to add your perspective.

This site is devoted to organizing a lifetime of participation in the Great Conversation About Right and Wrong and to engaging others in that dialogue. I provide a structure for the different components of the discussion, which is both about the nature of the moral conversation and about the content.
I hope that the resources on this site and the contributions of others will help people in every human setting better understand and answer the moral questions that confront them in their interactions with and responsibilities toward others.
